Can I drop off an UPS package at my local post office? ›

Drop your items at The UPS Store

You can also take your returns to The UPS Store. When selecting the method for returning your Amazon purchase, choose The UPS Store Dropoff. You don't need to have your items boxed or labeled. Instead, The UPS Store will pack, label and ship your return for free.

Compared to FedEx, UPS offers the more economical 3-day delivery option with UPS 3 Day Select. While USPS Priority Mail may be much more affordable in most cases, on-time delivery has been dwindling, and reliability is not as up-to-par as UPS for 3-day delivery.

You cannot drop off boxes for delivery through UPS Access Point at a Post Office, but you can arrange this directly with the UPS courier if that's more convenient than using a drop off point.

When this occurs, USPS steps in to handle the package and ensure its delivery. While there may be some differences in delivery times between UPS and USPS, rest assured that your package will still reach its destination.

Change With UPS My Choice

Open your dashboard, select your package and choose "Change My Delivery".

The short answer is, UPS does not deliver directly to PO (Post Office) boxes. UPS, being a courier service, requires a physical address for deliveries. However, there's a workaround. UPS can ship to a physical address associated with the PO Box at the post office.

Choose your delivery location as a UPS Access Point™ at the time of ordering your goods. UPS handles delivery from supplier to elected UPS Access Point. Provide proof of identity to collect your parcel. Notification sent and your parcel awaits to be collected at a time convenient to you.

According to Amazon, the new fee is part of an effort to trim returns costs and rely on UPS less. But there are ways to avoid it. Free returns are still being fielded at other drop-off locations — including Whole Foods, Kohl's and Amazon stores.
