is no newcomer to the scrapbooking industry. Established in 1996, K&Company was a pioneer in the design and production of scrapbooking supplies. In 2007 K&Company, along with scrapbooking icon EK Success, were purchased by Wilton Brands LLC (yes, the folks who help you make beautiful cakes and candies!). This made Wilton the largest and most diversified company in the craft industry. K&Company continues to be a leader in designing high-quality scrapbooking materials.

Scrapbooking Products

K&Company specializes in many scrapbooking products with new products continually being developed. Here are a few of my favorites:

• albums – Specializing in post-bound albums, K&Company has created some really eye-catching designs for almost any occasion. The albums generally coordinate with a line of paper and embellishments for a very polished result. They also offer albums with windows in the front that allow personalization or the addition of a photo to the cover. K&Company’s albums are as fun as they are functional.
• SMASH Books – K&Company is the developer of the SMASH book. Every season they continue to come out with more innovative products to feed the smash book craze. Check out this great video on making a SMASH Book with K&Company products – this was the inspiration that landed a SMASH book on my desk.
• card-making supplies – Everything from die-cut cards to the perfect embellishments make card making a breeze.
• scrapbooking paper – K&Company releases lots of double-sided holiday paper pads – these are perfect for all the papercrafting projects that require two-sided, coordinating paper (can you say “pinwheel?”) I used K&Company papers to make my gift-card holders last year. They were beautiful inside and out and so easy to make using these double-sided, high quality papers.
• Grand Adhesions – These are lovely, dimensional stickers that make scrapbooking and card making a breeze! They are often layered and include accents like foil or texture. Perfect for adding that professional touch to your projects.

What’s So Special About K&Company?

Let’s be honest, there are a LOT of companies in the scrapbooking industry now. So what makes K&Company so special, and how have they passed the test of time? One thing K&Company does is use a small group of talented designers. You know whose designs you are buying and that makes it easy to target styles that you like. For example, Brenda Walton has designed for K&Company for quite some time. Her style is very floral and feminine and typically features muted colors. Tim Coffey, on the other hand, uses brighter colors and whimsical designs. This makes K&Company appeal to a very wide range of scrapbooking tastes and provides a wide variety of styles to choose from.

K&Company also provides value in the way they package their coordinating product lines. Their items are packaged individually with lots of options in coordinating product. So you can pick exactly the amount and type of embellishments that you need for your project. You can essentially design your own kits, picking only the items and quantities that make sense for your needs.

What’s New from K&Company?

K&Company may be a seasoned player in the scrapbooking industry, but their products are anything but outdated. They are constantly introducing a wide variety of innovative new products. At the Summer CHA, K&Company showed off lots of new holiday offerings. This year there’s a beautifully bright line of Christmas-themed papers called Secret Santa, featuring some of the hot new colors such as bright pink. They also released a few more muted designs for the season featuring more traditional holiday colors. Each line has a full array of beautiful embellishments to complement your holiday paper-crafting.

There is also a new line of Halloween papers by Tim Coffey that will be showing up on store shelves soon. The Halloween Specialty Paper pad features 28 sheets of fun, complementary designs. And of course, K&Company is also releasing coordinating embellishments.

SMASH Books also have lots of new product available. K&Company just released a line of travel-themed products. They have also come out with mini SMASH Books – how awesome is that? Now you’ll be able to smash on the go! They’ve also come up with SMASH inks. These little portable inks look like lots of fun -- I know what’s going on my Christmas list this year!
